Christmas Gingerbread people
- 350g plain flour
- 2tsp ground ginger
- 1tsp bicarbonate soda
- 1tsp ground cinnamon
- 125g butter
- 175g soft brown sugar
- 4tbsp golden syrup
- 1 free-range eggs
Pre-heat your oven to 180c / 160c fan oven. Line some flat baking sheets with grease proof paper.
Sift together the flour, ginger, cinnamon and bicarbonate of soda. Rub in the butter to resemble a breadcrumb texture. Stir in the brown sugar.
In a small bowl, beat together the golden syrup and egg. Mix this mixture into the dry breadcrumb mix. Combine together to form a ball. Wrap into Clingfilm and place in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Roll the dough out to a ¼ and inch thick. Using a gingerbread person cutter, cut out the cookie shapes and place on the baking sheets.
Bake for 12 minutes and allow to cool fully before icing and decorating.
